The fine particles of plastic are dissolved in 90 percent of bottled water worldwide. These include 11 major brands of 9 countries in the world, including major companies. Researchers at State University of New York tested 259 bottles of 27 brands. For this, samples were taken from 19 locations in nine countries. Of the 259 bottles tested, only 17 were free of plastics.
World health chiefs launch probe after microplastics found in bottled water
According to the report, researchers found 10.4 microplastic particles in a liter bottle during the test. This is twice the number of plastic residues found in tap water before it.
Scientists based at the State University of New York in Fredonia were commissioned by journalism project Orb Media to analyse the bottled water.
